Why Localink Uni
Perks are part of society life. Arranging them shouldn't be this hard.
Every year, committees partner with local businesses so members get perks, and promote those partners all year. For a business, one partnership puts it in front of a whole society. But today it all runs on cold emails and screenshots.
Committees chase for weeks
Volunteer committees email, message and visit businesses one by one. Replies stall, terms get lost in threads and some deals fall through before term starts.
Businesses never hear about it
Most independent cafés, restaurants and shops never get asked, and student discount apps mostly feature national chains and online brands.
Perks are hard to check
Screenshots and paper cards are easy to share, and nobody can see whether a partnership actually worked, so good ones quietly lapse.

From joining a society to a perk at the till
Students join their societies
Sign up with your university email, find the societies at your university and request to join in a tap. Once the committee approves you, your digital membership card is ready.
Societies and businesses agree perks
Committees message local businesses, pick from their benefit decks or propose their own terms. Both sides accept and sign in the app, and each gets a PDF agreement.
Show your card, staff verify
One live card shows your name, university and every society you're in. At the till, staff match it to your student ID and verify a one-time code in seconds.

How much does it cost?+
Free for students to join, browse and join societies. Societies can add the Society Plan (£8.99 a year) and businesses the Business Plan (£29.99 a year). The optional Student Benefit Card is £4.99–£8.99 a month. Launch offer until 31 December 2026: £4.99 for societies and £19.99 for businesses for the first 12 months. Sign up to get your launch code. How long can a partnership agreement run?+
A plan is one payment, valid for 12 months, and never renewed automatically. Agreements can run until your plan ends plus 1 month, so a deal agreed a few weeks in can still last a full year. For a longer agreement, renew early at any time: the next 12 months are added after your current end date.
Is Localink Uni on the App Store?+
The iPhone app is coming soon. Until then, Localink Uni works in any browser on your phone or laptop: start on the web and your account will carry over to the app.
Do businesses pay commission?+
No. Businesses pay one small yearly fee. We never take a cut of your sales or redemptions.
Does it change how our Students' Union sells memberships?+
No. Students still buy society memberships on the SU website. Localink Uni starts once a committee approves a member in the app.
Who can join?+
University students aged 16+ with a university email. The paid Student Benefit Card is for 18+.
How are perks checked at the till?+
The student shows their live card. Staff check the name and university against the student ID, then enter or scan the one-time code in the Verify screen and see VALID or INVALID instantly.
Can a business change its offers?+
Yes. Public offers can be changed any time. Perks in a signed society agreement stay as signed until their end date, so members always get what was agreed.
What do businesses and societies see about perk use?+
Numbers, not names. Each scan records which society's perk was used, at which business and for which offer. Staff see a member's name only at the till, to match it to their student ID. Reports never show which student used a perk.
