Localink Uni
Business Benefit & Redemption Policy
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Last updated: 22 October 2026
1. Purpose
This Policy explains how participating businesses must create, manage and honour offers listed on Localink Uni and how student benefit redemptions must be verified.
It supplements the Localink Uni Business Terms of Service.
2. Creating an Offer
Businesses must provide complete and accurate information before an offer is published.
Each offer must clearly explain:
-
The benefit or discount provided.
-
Eligible products or services.
-
The start and end dates, where applicable.
-
Any minimum spend, booking or purchase requirements.
-
Redemption frequency and limits.
-
Exclusions, availability restrictions and other material conditions.
Offer conditions must be presented clearly enough for a student to understand them before attempting to redeem the benefit.
3. Approval and Publication
Localink Uni may review offers before or after publication to assess compliance with Platform policies and applicable law.
We may request clarification, amend presentation where authorised or reject or remove an offer that is misleading, unlawful, incomplete or inconsistent with Platform requirements.
Publication does not constitute a guarantee that an offer is legally compliant or that a business will fulfil its obligations.
4. Offer Changes and Withdrawal
Businesses must notify Localink Uni as soon as reasonably practicable when an offer changes, expires or becomes unavailable.
Material changes must be reflected in the published offer.
Changes must not be used to mislead students or improperly avoid commitments already made to eligible users.
Where an offer is withdrawn or cannot be honoured, Localink Uni may suspend its listing and consider appropriate steps for affected users, including an alternative or other remedy where applicable.
5. Verifying a Student Benefit Card
Businesses must use the designated Localink Uni verification process when a benefit requires verification.
The verification process may check:
-
Whether the subscription is active.
-
Whether the student has selected the relevant business.
-
Whether the QR token is valid and within its permitted validity period.
-
Whether the token has already been used where single-use verification applies.
-
Whether the redemption satisfies applicable offer conditions.
Staff must follow the verification result and must not manually override a failed check except through an authorised process.
A screenshot or static copy of a QR code should not be treated as proof of eligibility if the Platform requires live verification.
6. Redemption Procedure
Unless an offer specifies otherwise, the recommended procedure is:
-
Ask the student to display the digital benefit card or verification code.
-
Scan or verify the code using the authorised business verification page.
-
Check the result and any relevant offer conditions.
-
Provide the stated benefit if verification succeeds and the conditions are met.
-
Complete any required redemption confirmation through the Platform.
Businesses must not claim a redemption has occurred if the benefit was not actually provided.
7. Repeated Use and Redemption Limits
The individual offer determines whether and how frequently a benefit may be redeemed.
A benefit may be redeemable once, a specified number of times, or repeatedly during its validity period, depending on the published terms.
Businesses must not invent additional restrictions at the point of redemption that were not disclosed in the offer, subject to applicable law.
8. Fraud and Misuse
Businesses must not:
-
Accept invalid, expired or unauthorised verification codes.
-
Reuse a code where single-use verification is required.
-
Falsely report a redemption.
-
Share verification credentials with unauthorised parties.
-
Manipulate redemption data or performance metrics.
-
Use student verification data for unrelated purposes.
Suspected fraud or repeated verification failures should be reported to info@localink.app.
9. Student Privacy
Businesses must use verification information only for the legitimate purpose of confirming eligibility and administering the relevant benefit.
Businesses must not photograph, copy or retain a student's QR code, account details or personal information unless necessary, lawful and appropriately disclosed.
Where staff visually compare a profile photograph with the person presenting the card, the comparison must be limited to reasonable manual verification. Businesses must not conduct automated facial recognition through Localink Uni unless a separate lawful and properly assessed process has been established.
Businesses must protect any personal information they handle and restrict access to authorised staff.
Each verified redemption is recorded with the business, offer, society or Student Benefit Card and time. Businesses receive usage reports based on these records, which show counts only and never identify individual students.
10. Staff Training and Access
Businesses are responsible for ensuring that staff who process redemptions understand the verification procedure, offer conditions and privacy requirements.
Access to verification tools must be limited to staff who need it for their role.
Businesses should promptly remove staff access when it is no longer required and report suspected account compromise.
11. Technical Failures and Disputes
If the verification system is temporarily unavailable, staff should follow any alternative procedure expressly provided by Localink Uni.
Staff must not assume that a subscription is active solely because a student presents an old screenshot or saved QR image.
If eligibility cannot be verified, the business should explain the issue politely and direct the student to Localink Uni support where appropriate.
Disputes about an offer should be handled fairly and consistently with the published terms and applicable consumer law.
12. Monitoring and Enforcement
Localink Uni may review offer information and available redemption records to investigate suspected fraud, technical abuse or breaches of this Policy.
We may request reasonable clarification from a business and may remove offers, restrict access or suspend an account where necessary and proportionate.
Where reasonably practicable and lawful, we will explain significant enforcement actions and provide an opportunity to respond.
