Localink Uni
Business Terms of Service
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Last updated: 22 October 2026
1. About These Terms
These Business Terms of Service ("Business Terms") govern the use of Localink Uni by participating businesses, their owners, employees and authorised representatives.
Localink Uni enables businesses to promote eligible offers and connect with university students and student societies.
By registering a business account or using business features, you agree to these Business Terms and the applicable general Platform terms.
2. Business Registration and Eligibility
A business must provide accurate registration information, including its trading name, business contact details, address where applicable and the identity of an authorised representative.
The person registering must have authority to act for the business.
We may request reasonable information to verify a business's identity, trading status or authority to publish offers.
Registration does not constitute an endorsement, certification or guarantee of the business by Localink Uni.
3. Business Accounts and Security
Businesses must keep account credentials secure and restrict access to authorised personnel.
You must promptly remove access for employees or representatives who no longer require it and notify us of suspected unauthorised access.
Businesses are responsible for ensuring that their staff understand the applicable offer conditions and redemption procedures.
4. Business Plans and Fees
Certain business features may require a paid Business Plan.
Where offered, the applicable price, billing period, included features and renewal conditions will be displayed before purchase.
Any annual Business Plan fee, including the price of £29.99 per year, applies only where expressly offered at checkout. We may offer discounts through promotion codes entered at checkout. A plan is valid for 12 months from payment and is not renewed automatically. Partnership agreements made through Localink Uni may end no later than one month after your plan ends (agreements made during a pilot period may run for up to 12 months); you may renew early at any time, in which case the new 12-month period starts when your current plan ends.
A paid plan does not guarantee a particular number of customers, benefit redemptions, sales, leads or commercial results.
Subscription payments, renewals, cancellations and refunds are governed by the applicable checkout terms and refund policy.
5. Offers and Promotional Information
Businesses are responsible for ensuring that all offers published through Localink Uni are accurate, clear, current and capable of being honoured according to their stated conditions.
Each offer should specify, where relevant:
-
The discount, reward or benefit provided.
-
Eligible products or services.
-
Validity dates and applicable opening hours.
-
Minimum spend, booking or purchase requirements.
-
Redemption frequency and any applicable limits.
-
Exclusions and other material conditions.
Businesses must not advertise an offer that they are unable or unwilling to provide on the stated terms.
Any material change to an offer must be communicated to Localink Uni and reflected in the published information as soon as reasonably practicable.
6. Providing and Honouring Benefits
Businesses are responsible for supplying their own goods, services, discounts and rewards.
Staff must verify benefit eligibility using the designated redemption process and apply the published offer conditions consistently.
A business must not impose undisclosed restrictions or refuse an otherwise valid redemption contrary to the advertised offer, subject to applicable law.
If an offer becomes unavailable, the business must notify Localink Uni promptly so that appropriate updates can be made.
Nothing in these Terms limits consumer rights that apply to the business's goods, services or promotions.
7. QR Verification and Redemption Records
Localink Uni may provide QR codes or other digital verification tools to help businesses verify eligible benefit redemptions.
Businesses must use these tools only for authorised verification and must not attempt to bypass, manipulate or reverse-engineer them.
Staff must not collect or retain student information beyond what is reasonably necessary and lawfully permitted for verification and transaction administration.
Businesses must report suspected fraud, security incidents or repeated verification failures to Localink Uni.
8. Business Conduct and Legal Compliance
Businesses must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to consumer protection, advertising, equality, data protection, health and safety, licensing and the supply of goods or services.
Businesses must not publish misleading claims, unlawful promotions, discriminatory restrictions or content that infringes third-party rights.
Any required permissions, licences, insurance or professional qualifications remain the responsibility of the business.
9. Data Protection
Businesses must handle any personal information received through Localink Uni lawfully, fairly and securely.
Student information must not be used for unrelated marketing, sold to third parties or shared without an appropriate lawful basis.
Usage reports and CSV exports contain counts only. Businesses must not attempt to identify individual students from them.
Businesses must implement reasonable security measures and notify the appropriate parties where a personal data breach triggers a legal notification obligation.
The parties' respective data protection roles will depend on the actual processing activities and any applicable agreement.
10. Marketing and Intellectual Property
Businesses are responsible for ensuring that their marketing materials, claims, logos, photographs and other content are accurate and lawfully used.
By submitting content, a business grants Localink Uni a non-exclusive licence to display and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, administer and promote the relevant Platform features.
Businesses must not imply that Localink Uni, a university or a society endorses them beyond any expressly agreed arrangement.
11. Performance and Commercial Results
Localink Uni may provide business profile views, selections, redemptions or other performance information where available.
Such information is provided to help businesses understand activity on the Platform. We do not guarantee any particular level of engagement, revenue or return on investment.
Reported metrics may be affected by technical limitations, reporting periods or the availability of data.
Usage reports show how many times your offers were redeemed, broken down by partner society, offer and period, and can be downloaded as a CSV file. They do not identify individual students.
Your partner societies can see how many times their members used your offers.
We may use redemption data in aggregated form, combined with data from other businesses, to provide insights to businesses and societies, such as which categories of business or types of offer are used most. We may also indicate that an offer or business is popular with students. We will not share your exact redemption figures with other businesses, or with societies you have not partnered with, without your permission.
12. Suspension and Removal
We may remove an offer, restrict a business feature or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud, address a security risk, protect users, comply with law or enforce these Business Terms.
Where reasonably practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason for the action and provide an opportunity to respond or appeal.
We may terminate an account for serious or repeated breaches, unlawful activity or materially misleading offers.
Any treatment of prepaid subscription fees will be determined under the applicable subscription terms and law.
13. Platform Availability and Changes
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
We may update, maintain, modify or discontinue features where reasonably necessary.
Where a material change affects a paid service or existing commitment, we will provide notice or an appropriate remedy where required by law.
14. Liability
Businesses remain responsible for their own goods, services, offers, staff and legal compliance.
Nothing in these Business Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Any other allocation of liability between the parties is subject to applicable law and any separate written agreement.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Business Terms to reflect changes to the Platform, business features or applicable law.
Where a change materially affects a business's rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice where required and obtain agreement where necessary.
16. Governing Law
These Business Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
