Localink Uni
Student Terms of Service
Effective date: 14 October 2026
Last updated: 14 October 2026
1. About These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Localink Uni, including our website, application and related services (collectively, the "Platform").
Localink Uni connects university students, student societies and participating local businesses to help students discover societies, activities and available benefits.
In these Terms, "Localink Uni", "we", "us" and "our" refer to Localink, 82 Kingston Road, New Malden, KT3 3NB.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility and Age Requirements
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Localink Uni account.
Users aged 16 and 17 may use eligible free features, including exploring societies, viewing activities and discovering available student benefits.
The paid Student Benefit Card subscription is available only to users aged 18 or over.
You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your account information reasonably up to date. We may request additional information where reasonably necessary to verify eligibility or protect the Platform.
Meeting the minimum age requirement does not automatically establish that you are a university student or eligible for every offer. Certain features, society memberships and benefits may have additional eligibility requirements.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for activity carried out through your account, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
You must not share your account credentials or allow another person to use your account in a way that compromises account security or the integrity of the Platform.
You must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We may request reasonable verification of your identity, student status, age or eligibility where necessary to administer the service, prevent fraud or enforce these Terms.
4. Society Memberships
The Platform allows students to discover societies and, where available, submit membership applications.
Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance. The relevant society may assess applications according to its membership criteria, capacity and procedures.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, society membership is separate from a paid Student Benefit Card subscription.
Societies are responsible for their own membership decisions, internal rules, activities and communications. Localink Uni does not guarantee acceptance into a society or the availability, quality or outcome of society activities.
Societies must comply with applicable law and their own applicable obligations when managing memberships and activities.
You must provide accurate information when applying to join a society and comply with any reasonable, lawful membership requirements communicated to you.
5. Student Benefits and Participating Businesses
The Platform may display discounts, promotions, offers and other benefits made available by participating businesses or societies.
Each benefit may be subject to specific conditions, including eligibility requirements, availability, expiry dates, redemption limits, minimum spend, booking requirements and exclusions. You should review the applicable conditions before relying on or redeeming an offer.
Participating businesses are responsible for the goods, services, discounts and promotions they provide, including their accuracy, availability, quality, safety and fulfilment, subject to applicable law.
Localink Uni facilitates the discovery and administration of benefits but is not the provider of a participating business's goods or services unless expressly stated otherwise.
We do not guarantee that every listed offer will remain available at all times. Businesses may amend or withdraw offers, subject to applicable law and any commitments already made to users.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or remedies you may have against a business or Localink Uni under applicable law.
6. Student Benefit Card
Eligible users aged 18 or over may subscribe to a paid Student Benefit Card plan, subject to the applicable subscription terms and fees.
The Student Benefit Card is separate from society membership. Holding a society membership does not automatically entitle you to a paid benefit subscription, and purchasing a benefit subscription does not automatically grant membership of any society.
Your access to paid benefits depends on your active subscription, selected participating businesses, applicable offer conditions and any required verification.
You must not copy, share, transfer or misuse your digital benefit card, QR verification code or other redemption credentials.
Detailed provisions concerning subscription prices, billing, renewals, cancellations, refunds and benefit selection are set out in the Student Benefit Card Subscription Terms.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Platform lawfully and responsibly. You must not:
-
Provide false, misleading or fraudulent registration, student or eligibility information.
-
Impersonate another person or misuse another user's account.
-
Copy, share, transfer, manipulate or reproduce a benefit card or QR verification code to obtain unauthorised benefits.
-
Attempt to redeem the same offer more than permitted by its applicable terms.
-
Exploit technical errors, verification weaknesses or promotional offers dishonestly.
-
Interfere with the security, operation or integrity of the Platform.
-
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to accounts, systems or data.
-
Use automated tools to scrape, extract or collect Platform data without our permission, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
-
Upload unlawful, abusive, threatening, discriminatory or infringing content.
-
Harass, defraud or unlawfully discriminate against other users, society members or business staff.
-
Use the Platform for unlawful commercial activity, spam or unsolicited promotions.
-
Circumvent age, subscription, eligibility or other access restrictions.
You must comply with applicable laws and reasonable instructions relating to the safe and proper use of the Platform.
8. Suspension and Termination
We may temporarily suspend or restrict access to your account or specific features where reasonably necessary to:
-
Investigate suspected fraud, abuse or a breach of these Terms.
-
Protect users, societies, participating businesses or the Platform.
-
Address a security incident or comply with a legal obligation.
-
Verify information where there are reasonable grounds to question its accuracy or validity.
Where reasonably practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason for a suspension and provide an opportunity to resolve the issue or challenge the decision.
We may terminate an account where there is a serious or repeated breach of these Terms, fraudulent activity, unlawful use or another legitimate reason that justifies termination.
Where appropriate, we will provide reasonable notice before terminating access for reasons other than urgent security concerns, serious misconduct or legal requirements.
You may stop using the Platform and request account closure by contacting info@localink.app or using any available account-closure function.
Closing your account does not automatically cancel any separate subscription or remove records that we are legally entitled or required to retain. Subscription cancellation and any applicable refund rights are governed by the relevant subscription terms and applicable law.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory rights you may have.
9. Platform Availability and Changes
We aim to keep the Platform available and functioning properly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.
We may update, improve, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, legal compliance or the development of the service.
Where a material change significantly affects users, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable and required by law.
We will not use this section to remove statutory rights or to avoid obligations arising from paid services or existing commitments.
10. Content and Intellectual Property
The Platform and its original content, branding, design and software are owned by or licensed to Localink Uni, subject to third-party rights.
You may use the Platform for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
You must not reproduce, distribute, commercially exploit or modify Platform content or software without permission, except where permitted by law.
Society names, business names, logos, photographs and promotional materials may belong to third parties. Their appearance on the Platform does not necessarily mean that Localink Uni owns them.
You retain any rights you hold in content you submit. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, display and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain and promote the relevant Platform features, subject to applicable law and your privacy choices.
You must have the necessary rights and permissions to submit any content you upload.
11. Complaints and Disputes
If you have a question, complaint or concern about the Platform, please contact info@localink.app and provide sufficient information for us to investigate.
We will review complaints fairly and take reasonable steps to respond.
If your complaint concerns a participating business's goods, services or offer, we may direct you to the business or assist with communication where appropriate. This does not remove any rights you may have against that business or Localink Uni.
Nothing in these Terms prevents you from exercising your statutory rights or using any applicable dispute-resolution or legal process.
12. Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer, you may have statutory rights under UK consumer protection law, including rights relating to services not performed with reasonable care and skill, unfair contract terms and misleading commercial practices.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Where Localink Uni supplies paid digital services, additional statutory requirements may apply. The applicable subscription terms will explain relevant payment, cancellation and refund arrangements without limiting your statutory rights.
13. Privacy and Personal Information
Our collection and use of personal information is explained in the Localink Uni Privacy Notice, available at /legal/privacy-notice.
You should read the Privacy Notice to understand how we handle your personal information and how you may exercise your data protection rights.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Platform, our operations or applicable law.
Where a change materially affects your rights or obligations, we will provide reasonable notice where required by law. Where necessary, we will seek your agreement to the updated Terms before applying them to continued use of the relevant service.
The updated Terms will state the date on which they take effect.
15. General Provisions
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
Our failure to enforce a provision immediately does not waive our right to enforce it later.
These Terms do not create a partnership, employment relationship or agency relationship between you and Localink Uni.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory legal protections and may be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, where applicable law provides for this.
